My passion for social justice landed me here in the United States of America from Africa. My vision was born from literal blood, sweat and tears from helping people in my Country. My journey has formed AICC.
I started in Africa as a Case Manager by being a resource and educating on employment, housing, green cards and citizenship, legal advise for asylum seekers, as well as providing financial assistance.
My name is Georges Dakonsa. I come from the Democratic Republic of Congo. I have five kids; four boys and one girl. I have extensive background in diverse fields, and I believe that my skills at effectively communicating in several languages, mobilizing communities, creating sustainable systems for data management, and designing mechanisms for access to information make me an excellent candidate for your team.
During my career as a defender of human rights for nearly a decade, I have used my training and talents to help seek justice for survivors of war crimes. Working primarily in my native country, the Democratic Republic of Congo, I developed robust data management systems and media campaigns to disseminate information about pathways to justice for those survivors.
Toward that end, I helped train over 50 field team members to acquire the skills needed to organize communities, counsel survivors, accurately collect and record information, and advance judicial proceedings. These efforts resulted in a large increase in the number of human rights cases heard by a system of mobile courts. In addition to serving the needs of local communities, I also worked to restore human rights within the country's legal framework.
